It seems no matter how much I sort, recycle and compost, there is always garbage to take out on garbage day.  Even if I am careful to buy things that have little or no packaging, there always seems to be some garbage.  The morning after garbage day there is nothing in the trash can, but it seems by afternoon garbage is already starting to accumulate.

The same thing seems to happen in my spiritual life.  I just get through sorting all the garbage in my life, confessing to God and asking His forgiveness, and before I know it, ‘those things’ start accumulating again.  What’s a person to do?

God would love us to never sin, have garbage in our lives, but He also knows it’s not likely to happen.  What He wants is for us to do our best not to sin and when we do, confess it to Him, ask forgiveness and do our best not to do it again.

“If we say openly that we have done wrong, he is upright and true to his word, giving us forgiveness of sins and making us clean from all evil.”  (1 John 1:9, BBE)
