This most likely appears to be the most boring post and another long winded argument of how it is so important to drink water and keep hydrated. Maybe it is, but it cannot be argued enough!

I’ll admit, I’m one to be pretty slack when it comes to drinking the recommended amount a day. However, when I have stuck to it, I genuinely feel so much better and much more energised. Our bodies are made up of about 70% water… so we need it in order to function properly!

Not only that, but drinking water helps to maintain a glowing complexion. The weather effects our skin continuously, causing it to dry out. Water is the answer to help us rehydrate it. Obviously, cosmetic companies will not rave about how good water is for your skin, else their products won’t sell and don’t get me wrong, some of these products obviously do help our skin. But it’s what we put inside our bodies and not on it that makes the most dramatic differences.

The big one for me and what I noticed in particular was weight loss. When consuming the correct amount of water, hunger cravings can go away. This is because the part of your brain that sends out hunger signals also sends out thirst signals, therefore the majority of the time that you think you’re hungry, your body is most likely craving water. I learnt that when I felt this way, have a glass of water and wait 15 minutes to see if the hunger is still there… and most of the time, it wasn’t. All in all, you begin to see a change in your weight as you’re eating less and drinking more water, which obviously contains no calories!

So overall, water energises you, cleanses your body of toxins, improves your complexion and aids in weight loss. Near enough everything we all complain about can be solved by drinking the recommended 2 litres of water a day. If this seems too much for you, start with baby steps. Just try to drink slightly more and continue to up it until it becomes part of your daily routine. Or, maybe you’re just not a fan of water, so try infusing it with fruit overnight in the fridge or even a squeeze of lemon/lime to give it some flavour. Naturally infusing the water gives it that great taste and keeps all the goodness in too!
