So I’m halfway through fresher’s week and I’m almost certain I will die of fresher’s flu in the next 20 minutes or so. Even though I’m now a 2nd year, I am unfortunately not immune.

For any fresher’s out there though, I know how daunting it can feel to have to start all over again and make new friends and even more so learn to live by yourself or with other flatmates. But, if I could give advice on one thing it would be to definitely join a society or sport. Uni and especially fresher’s week is about experiencing new things, getting out of your comfort zone and finding yourself. Whether you’re into sports, academics, music and literally anything else, there will be a society for it with like-minded people. If not, then you could just make your own society! Heck, they even have a larping society at our uni.

But most of all, be kind to others and treat them how you’d want to be treated because after all, everyone is in the same boat as you.

I feel like this drawing pretty much summed up my first freshers week. Just remember giants have feelings too. What I mean by that, is that everyone is different, but they still have feelings.
