In the beginning of the book of Jeremiah, God gives him a message to speak.  In Jeremiah 1:6-7 we see Jeremiah’s response and then God’s response to him.  “I answered, “Oh, Lord GOD, I really do not know how to speak well enough for that, for I am too young.” The LORD said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ But go to whomever I send you and say whatever I tell you.” (NET)

Many times we may feel inadequate when God asks us to do something.  We need to realize that He is not looking to our ability, but rather to our availability.  Notice that God does tell Jeremiah he is able.  He simply reprimands him for saying he is too young and commands him to go.

God will only tell us to do something if He know we can.  Either he has already equipped us, or He will equip us, either way we are able.  Often children seem to totally trust a parent when they suggest a task.  We need to have a similar trust in God.  He will only ask if He knows we can succeed.
