Proverbs 21 “God is All Seeing and Knowing”

“All of a person’s ways seem right in his own opinion, but the Lord evaluates the motives.

Why is that we think our ways are right? It is because we are self-deceived due to the sin of pride. We are right even if others say we are wrong.  We look in the mirror as James says and when the real self is revealed we choose to walk away and dismiss it.

In the 1950’s two psychologists designed the Johari window test. The four panes of windows have adjectives to describe us as we see ourselves and how others perceive us.  The first pane is the open window. It is what we know about ourselves and what others know about us. The second pane is our blind spot. We think we know all about ourselves but others see areas of which we are ignorant or deny. The third is the hidden area that we keep behind a false façade and we do not share this part of ourselves with anyone. The fourth is the unknown area which is an unknown to us as well as to others

The truth is that God is able to filter through each of these panes and see us for who we really are and one day we will stand open and bare before Him with all windows exposed. Therefore, our prayer should be:

Psalm 139:  “Father, you examine me and know when I sit down and when I get up; you carefully observe m. Please examine me and probe my thoughts, test me and know my concerns. See if there is any sin in me that needs revealing that I may confess it and be pure in your sight.”
