Growing Pains: When I grow up

“When I grow up

I wanna be famous

I wanna be a star

I wanna be in movies”

-Pussy Cat Dolls

As a child I could not wait to grow up. I wanted to do everything before my time. In elementary school, I was dying to wear make-up. In middle school, I wanted so badly to wear high heels and get my nails done. In high school, I couldn’t wait to it the clubs. But little did I know… all those things came with a great deal of responsibility.

If you asked my 12-year-old self what my life would be like at 25. I would say the total opposite of what reality is currently. But I didn’t think things would be this different. Don’t get me wrong, life is good. As a kid I inspired to have so much more at this age. But in reality growing up is hard to do. Adulting is serious. Life hits you, and when it hits you it hits hard.

“When I grow up

Be on TV

People know me

Be on Magazines”

-Pussy Cat Dolls

Life is not a fairy tale and its not a movie. It’s like you work hard all your life, then you die. And nothing you worked hard for all your life can go with you when you leave this earth. It’s the growing pains that makes everything you have worth enjoying. I’m not going to be a super star in movies and cat walking the red carpet. But I will thrive in my career, enjoy my family, and continue to do the things that make me happy.

“But I aint complaining

we all wanna be famous

so go ahead and say what you wanna say

you don’t know what its like to be nameless

want them to know what your name is’

cause see when I was younger I would say”

-Pussy Cat Dolls

Words of Advice from Kadii: Live your truth, for yourself and no one else. Know that growing pains will come and go. But your happiness is most important.
