Everyone wants to be happy.  But still the question remains, how does one obtain that happiness?  Many people search for happiness in the wrong places.  Some of these places actually bring unhappiness.  I once heard a comedian state, ‘happy wife, happy life’.  In a way he did have part of the solution; making the people around us happy will, to a degree, make us happy also.

This, however, is a happiness that relies on the reaction and happiness of others.  How then can we find the happiness of which we have complete control?  The answer is found in James 1:25.  “But the truly happy people are those who carefully study God's perfect law that makes people free, and they continue to study it. They do not forget what they heard, but they obey what God's teaching says. Those who do this will be made happy.” (NCV)

True happiness is found in the study of God’s perfect law, His Word, the Bible.  This is a happiness that does not rely on others.  We end up in control of our own happiness.  Happiness from the world is fleeting at best, but happiness from God will last through this lifetime and into eternity.
