When you hear the word “run” do you think good or bad thoughts? For me, it used to be bad ones if we’re being honest. The thought of even running a lap around the track for P.E. evaluation in middle school taught me some of my best cringing techniques. I grew up a pretty athletic girl though. I played team sports for most of my school career (so, as you can imagine, most of my exercise was done because I HAD to, and not because I WANTED to). My interest for being active for my own enjoyment peaked around sophomore year of high school. The “healthy and fit” lifestyle has interested me since. Fitness gurus on social media have played a huge role in my yearning to always get better. I see them and all I can think about is how I want to be just like them. Some of my favorites will be listed below, give them a follow!

But ANYWAYS!! Running. It is the holy grail… well for me at least. There are so many reasons I do it, and so many benefits you can reap from doing it as well. All it takes is about 30 minutes of your day, if that! I like going in the mornings before breakfast, or after dinner before I fall asleep.

  1. Stress reliever: I can’t tell you how many times I have just had the WORST day imaginable and I laced up my tennis shoes and just got out of the house and ran. It clears your mind and leaves you feeling refreshed.
  2. Makes you feel good: Sure, you might be in the moment and really not be feeling like even getting out of bed, but trust me, it’s ALWAYS worth it after. If you want to know what I mean why don’t you get up and go run right now?!?
  3. Leg toner: This is self-explanatory. I mean… come on what do you use to run with?? Your legs, duh!
  4. Works your core: People might not know this, but running is actually a good target for the core. Sit-ups and crunches aren’t the only things you can do to strengthen those muscles!
