But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was, and when he saw him, he had compassion-Luke 10:33

We were stranded.

It was hot and uncomfortable. Everyone was arguing with each other for one stupid reason or another....I was ready for someone to come and save the day.

Stupid car.

My family, which included my two sisters, my mom and my dad.....oh and little ol' me, were on our way home from a vacation to Florida. Now, you would think it would be faster to fly, and it would have been-if only my dad wasn't so terrified of heights. We were driving through Louisiana and our trusty little van decided to break down. We waited, and waited, and waited for what seemed like FOREVER. The strange part about it was many state troopers drove past the broken down van with the family standing on the side of the road about ready to kill each other and none of them seemed to want to stop for help. They just looked at out little unfortunate situation and went on their merry little way. Finally, and I do mean FINALLY, a state trooper stopped and came over to see what was going on. He called for someone to come and help fix our car. They took us to a hotel and even gave us money for food during the time that we had to stay at the hotel while the car was being fixed.

Someone finally took the time, the effort and the kindness to go out of their way to help 5 completely crazy strangers.

I love this story in the Bible. This poor man was beaten and bruised and all he needed was a little help. He needed someone to care for him. He needed someone to care about him. I wonder what it was like for him to watch other people just walk right past him. I bet it sure hurt his feelings. Have you ever been in a situation where you needed help, but all that seemed to happen were people passing you by? Have you ever been somewhere you found someone needing help and you just walked on by, going on about your day and your business?

I wonder what would happen if the world was more full of Good Samaritans and not people who just look at the unfortunate situation and go on their way. When was the last time you were a Good Samaritan? Find someone who you can help this week. You never know how one simple act of kindness can change a person's life. They just might see Jesus for the very first time.

Don't forget that HE loves you and so do I,
