Finding the ideal photo location for your wedding can be a challenge. That is why we write this blog post, so that the search may be a bit easier. Below are some points that you can think about.

What type of photo location do you appeal to?
First, consult yourself. What really appeals to you and your future? We hear from many couples that they want to be photographed in nature. And we think that is always beautiful to do. But maybe you just love the beach, or a newly built park or an industrial factory hall.
If you know exactly what you are looking for, you can start your search. In the case of natural locations you can, for example, go for that nature reserve where you can run your dog or that piece of heath where you sometimes go for a walk on Sunday.
If you like industrial locations, you can look in port areas, for example. If you have a nice old shed on the eye, try to get in touch with someone who works there or with the manager. And if you really have no idea, ask your friends and family for advice. When they live in the same area where you are getting married, they may still be able to come up with original places!

How much time do you have on the wedding day to do the shoot?
We advise bridal couples to book an hour for the photo shoot alone. Travel time is still there. If you have a lot of time for the photo shoot, it is often no problem to drive a bit with the car. But don’t you have that much time, choose a location near your wedding location, or maybe you can be photographed at the wedding location yourself.
Many places already have beautifully landscaped gardens, or an adjacent forest or maybe an elegant stair party. Use this. So if you have all the time in the world, you can also be photographed everywhere, but if you are limited in your time, choose a nearby photo location.

Do you have to consider your clothes during the day?
Some brides have a beautiful wedding dress with everything on and on. A dress with drag, a veil and also a towering heels. Very nice of course, but it may not be very convenient to be photographed in the middle of the forest.
We always tell brides that the dress will be dirty (at the bottom) and that's okay. Because you often get nice and relaxed photos. But if you really do not want a dirty dress, choose a location where you can, for example, be photographed directly. Or a location where the grass is cut short and dry. Or maybe you have a beautiful house, and you can be photographed in that house.

And now get started with finding that beautiful photo location for your wedding day.
Before your wedding, be sure to look for the beautiful places that can be found between your starting location (often your own house, your parents' house or a hotel) and the wedding location. We encourage couples to make a few photos with their cell phones and send them to us. Then we can look at the possibilities of the location from a distance. And possibly we can also "choose."
Also, you can sometimes even discover locations via Google Maps. For example, you are a nature lover, and if you live in Washington DC, the best option you have is Hillwood Mansion, Museum & Gardens. Searching this way can save you a lot of time. And Google Images can also give a clear picture of what is possible at a location.

Extra tips
- Ask if your wedding photographers DC knows beautiful photo locations where he/she would like to photograph
- if you're looking for good indoor places when it rains
- if you have enough time for the photo shoot it is also possible to visit several locations
- putting a garbage bag under your dress while shooting is really worthless. It takes a lot of time to work it away under your dress, and the shoot is also very static. So if you really do not want your dress dirty, choose a cleaner location
- If you are getting married in the summer, try to find your photo shoot location during the summer or autumn. Especially natural locations can change very much through the seasons.
Have fun finding your ideal photo location!
