I read recently that scientist estimate we have about fifty trillion cells in our bodies and each one of them has a specific function.  The cells in our lungs behave differently than the cells in skin.  They are all different, they all know their function and they all behave differently.  The same article said that every second about one million cells are replaced.  Every second, that many cells die and are replaced by others cells dividing and producing new cells to perform the needed function.  To me, these numbers are mind boggling.

This all started from single cells.  A single sperm cell joined a single egg cell and the process began and it will continue throughout our lives.  Amazing!

Part of Psalms 139:14 says “for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”  (KJV)  The number of cells in our bodies and how they function certainly attest to that statement.  However, it really should not amaze us.  After all, in Genesis 1:27 we are told that man was made in the image of God.  If we are made in His image how could we be any else but amazing and mind boggling.
