Hey guys. Through my life I have struggled with my confidence, and over the years I have discovered some tips that help me feel confident. So I decided to make a list of the tips I have discovered on how to build your self confidence. I have used these tips to boost my self esteem in the short and long term. So I hope that this list can help you with your confidence.

1. Smile:)

If there is one way to boost your confidence quickly it is smiling. Studies have shown that smiling can reduce feelings of stress and make you happier and more relaxed; another study has shown that smiling makes you look more open and relaxed which will boost your confidence.


2. Take care of yourself 

This one may seem a little bit shallow, but it is amazing what a shower, brushing your teeth and other basic grooming habits can do to your confidence and self image. I feel like taking a shower or doing my nails or hair instantly boosts my confidence.

3. Dress for succsess 

Wearing clothes that you feel good in can seriously increase your confidence. Studies have shown that by choosing clothes that fit that fit you well and makes you feel good instantly boost your confidence. There is a quote that I live by and it`s “Always dress for succsess, to impress, and make those who put you down regret it” because I know when I dress to impress I feel like I can conquer the world.

4. Think positively and kill negativity 

It is very hard being feeling confident when you have negative thoughts floating around in your head all day; by learning to replace the negative thoughts with positive ones can truly make miracles when it comes to your confidence. A good way to change your mindset is to create a mantra that inspires you and motivates you; and every day look at yourself in a mirror and repeat that mantra as much as you need. My mantra is “I am smart, I am beautiful, I am strong, I am enough”  I repeat this mantra to myself every morning while i`m getting ready to go out; but also every time I feel the negative thoughts invading my mind.

Another good way to get rid of negative  thoughts are identifying and removing negative people from your life. And by negative people I mean those who put you down, are always complaining, lie to you and make you feel bad about yourself.


5. Be kind and generous

This one may sound really corny, but by being kind and generous to yourself and others can really build a good self image. Being kind and generous makes you feel like a better person which builds your self image and confidence.

6. Fake in till you make it

There are many ways to fake self confidence, like having good posture, speaking slowly or maintaining eye contact with other people. These three things are all signs of good confidence; and faking confidence might just be the thing that has worked best for me.

7. Set small goals

People often make the mistake of setting themselves up for failure by setting goals that take a lot of work and time to achieve and then they get discouraged. I`m not saying that you shouldn’t have big, long term goals, but that you should also have small, short term, more achievable goals like talking to your crush or read that book that you have always wanted to read.

 8. Stop comparing yourself

I feel like this one is pretty important one. When you compare your life, yourself and what you have to other people’s lives and what they have then you have a self destructive habit on your hands. Because you can never win; there is always someone who has more or is better than you at something in the world. There are always people ahead of you. So a good idea is to replace that habit with something better, compare yourself to yourself. Focus on you; focus on your results and look at how far you have come so far instead. This will both motivate you and raise your self-esteem.

9. Accept mistakes 

Life is about making mistakes, that is how we learn. In the future things that seem like huge things today will either be a valuable lesson or a super funny story.

10. Write down the good things that happen 

At the end of the day write down the positive things that happen; maybe you got a good grade on a test, maybe you talked to your crush or you just did something that you are proud of. Writing down the good and positive things and keeping them for when you are feeling insecure can help you remember the good in life. 

11. Remember that you are one of a kind

There is no one like you and no noe ever will be. Remembering that and thinking that has helped me so much with my confidence.
