Hello my lovelies,

Most women will be able to tell you a story or two about times that they've sat and watched someone put make up on or try the new beauty trend when they were little. They will even be able to tell you how they secretly tried lipstick or bright pink blusher hoping no one would find out, but their parents would always walk in. They would then be dragged to the bathroom followed by a harsh face scrubbing over the sink with them getting called every name under the sun. It wasn't right for young girls to go out with a face full of make up. You would have to be over the age of 18 for it to be acceptable. Even women shaving their legs probably wasn't acceptable under the age of 15.

I now find it hard to guess how old people are because parents/guardians have let their children wear makeup so young. It scares me that I'm 24 and 10 year old children know how to do makeup better than I do. I say 10 years old because I have been into shops such as Boots and Superdrug and have stood and listened to young girls chat about makeup and what they prefer to wear. Then they have continued to talk about birthday parties.

I was shocked at what I witnessed over the weekend. I saw a young girl no older than 8 having her eyebrows threaded, and believe me this couldn't have been the first time as she seemed like a pro. I have also walked past nail salons and witnessed young girls having nail extensions put on or even gel put on them. I struggled to find a law for the age of young girls to have their nails done. From what I read it's actually up to the nail salon if they want to do the childs nails. Please don't think that I think girls shouldn't paint their nails, nail varnish is completely different to gel and extensions.

Young girls are even dressing way older then they're meant to be. I walked into a shop over the weekend and was shocked to find a bra in the children's section. They were right next to a top with Disney princesses on it. I mean, come on! Am I being old before my time or am I talking about a real issue here?

I'm not going to sit here and type away lying to you all. I didn't dye my hair until I was 13 years old. I did wear makeup when I was younger, but I'm talking about I was about 14 years old, not 10. I've never had nail extensions, but just recently had them gelled (worst idea of mine ever!) and I dressed like a 10 year old should. My parent's didn't let me have any facial piercings until I was old enough to make my own decisions. So I'm not saying I was a saint but I was in my teens when this started, not potentially starting at 7 years old.

Are we letting people grow up too soon or should I be going along with it? I'm not sure, but I think we need to have some sort of law around the ages for getting your nails done. I also think there should be an age limit on buying makeup, that way parents have control over how much money their child is spending and more control over their children wearing makeup.
