7 The LORD will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. 8 The LORD will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.-Psalm 121: 7-8

About a month or so ago I learned something about myself.  Actually, my husband was the one who taught me something about myself that I had not known. I apparently talk in my sleep, that’s common isn’t it? Well this one particular night, I had a bad dream. I don’t remember what it was about, and I don’t remember what it was that scared me so bad.  However, I do remember waking up fearful and almost unable to breathe. Then I saw an arm come across me, and he pulled me close. I had woken up from my nightmare to the sound of my husband, Brian.

“Hey, it’s okay, I got you.” I heard him say as I was trying to calm down.

“Don’t you worry, I’m here and I’m not going to let anything bad happen to you.”

He kissed my forehead and held me as close to him as possible. He reassured me once again that nothing bad was happening and that it was safe to go back to sleep.

I can’t remember the last time I had felt so safe.

Have you ever had a bad dream before? The kind where you wake up and you have this overwhelming fear that you can’t shake? Were you alone?  Have you ever been in a place in your life where you would give anything to wake up from the nightmare you are going through, only to be discouraged by the fact that what you are going through isn’t a dream, but a painful season in life that doesn’t seem to want to end?

I’ve been there too. 2016 has been one for the books for my husband and I, and a bad book at that.

But even in the midst of a bad dream that I can wake up from or a bad dream that is actually a difficult season of life, there is one constant that I absolutely can rely on; whether my emotions tell a different story or not. I know that my God is my ultimate protector and that absolutely nothing outside of His will can or will harm me. I hope you know that for yourself also.

I hope you know that no matter the season of life or no matter the evil monsters that find their way into your dreams at night, you can rest knowing that God our Father has His arms firmly around you, and that He’s got you, and that outside of His will, He will not let ANYTHING happen to you.

Sleep well tonight,
