“We get closer to God as we get intimately and understandingly acquainted with the things He has created. I know of nothing more inspiring than that of making discoveries for one’s self” – George Washington Carver

Self-discovery is defined as an act or process of gaining knowledge of your abilities, character, and feelings (Merriam-Webster). I didn’t imagine my journey of finding myself to be an easy one but in the process of finding myself, I’ve come across a lot of obstacles and triumphs. One of the obstacles being commitment because I’m prone to the act of stopping myself and I truly don’t know the reason to the latter. However, I put myself in the mindset of learning and understanding the steps I need to take to overcome this. This is how I grow stronger in my weaknesses, to understand where and what I need to improve.

One part I’ve taken from self-discovery is being able to introduce yourself, I was describing Be Self Inspired out loud with my eyes closed. What does Be Self Inspired mean to me, well it’s not merely defined by personal development or being able to find yourself or being able to turn your pain and passion into purpose?  It’s being on the journey to celebrate who you are, by being inspired by who you are. Once you make discoveries for one’s self, you will be able to gain knowledge of your abilities, character, and feelings. You will know what you were put here for. One thing I read showed me that the only way you can truly begin to know yourself is to find your identity in God.

The second part to self-discovery is being true to yourself, ever heard of the phrase the truth shall set you free. Well once you stop blaming everyone and everything but yourself, you can consider being successful in whatever you put your mind to. I graduated this year, again it was not easy but it was totally worth it. Not because yes I got the degree but celebrating myself in the moment of all possible achievements. Knowing that what I overcame was truly rewarding and that I can take a little pressure off when it comes to being hard on myself. I want to get to a place where I can feel freedom mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually and that is my ultimate goal in life.
