During the campaign, Trump had little but nice things to say about Russian leader, Vladimir Putin, and the accolades were returned by the Russians. Recent news reports indicate that the Russians, possibly at the direction of Putin himself, were behind the hacks of DNC servers, and the release of hacked information that benefited Trump in the election. US intelligence agencies have said the preponderance of the information they've acquired supports this view (the FBI doesn't disagree, but has been tepid in coming to a conclusion- no surprise there). Trump's organization has scoffed at this view, setting up a contentious relationship between the White House and the intelligence community before he's even inaugurated.

With all these storm clouds on the horizon, Trump's Administration will have to come up with a policy vis a vis Russia very early, and that won't be an easy task.
