The very first sentence in the Bible is, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth”. (Gen 1:1, KJV)  When you picture God ‘creating’, what do you see?  We often see God speaking a word and everything that is came into being.  That is true but it is really much more.

When I picture that first verse, I see myself standing in field late at night and looking up at the night sky, filled with a myriad of stars.  I see a caterpillar miraculously changing itself into a butterfly.  I see myself on the top of a mountain looking at scenery that takes my breath away.  I see the Voyageur spacecraft travelling for almost 40 years at 62,000 kph and only getting to the edge of our solar system.

God did not simply create.  He amazed!  I don’t know about you, but there are endless things in God’s creation that amaze me.  Each one of them plays a part in that first verse of the Bible.  His creating ability goes far beyond that of the simple words, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth”.
