We just got a new TV and with it came a user’s manual.  The manual is just over 100 pages.  It made my mind wander back to the TV we had when I was just a kid.  You turned the knob and it came on.  You turned it again it went off.  If the picture rolled you used the vertical hold.  Many people probably don’t even know what I mean when I say the picture rolled.  It just doesn’t happen on new TV’s.  That was about it.  All the needed instructions were printed clearly under the knobs.  Now I need a 100 page manual to use the TV.

It seems the farther along we get, the more complicated the simple things in life become.  But if we want the apparatus to work properly, we need to know how to use it properly and the instructions must be read.

If only life came with an instruction manual, but then again, it does.  The Bible is God’s instruction manual for us.  As with most manuals, it is only useful if you actually read it.  But reading it is not enough, we need to be willing and obedient to do what it says.  “If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land.” (Isaiah 1:19, KJV)
