And no, I don't mean winter or Christmas. I mean autumn. Especially October. I love the cooler weather, the changing leaves, I got married in this month, and it's Halloween. Halloween is my favorite holiday. I'm not really sure why. I hate the horror genre of movies and to lesser extent books. (It's easier to block out a scary part in a book than it is a movie, at least for me anyway). I hate spiders, (as you know) bats, and other creepy crawly things. So what is it about Halloween that allows it to surpass every other holiday? This is the first chance (for me) to really decorate the house all year. Sure I could decorate for Valentines Day or Independence Day, but it's not as much fun. In part because I have a ton of Halloween decor and not much for any other holiday. There's also the fact that I get to eat all the candy I buy because we live on a busy street on the outskirts of town so we have no trick-or-treaters. But I still buy candy, just in case, at least that's what I tell myself to justify getting some. The no trick-or-treaters is kind of a bummer though. And finally I love carving pumpkins. Once again, I'm not really sure why because it's a mess and I'm not very artsy craftsy so all my pumpkins look the same. But I enjoy doing it and it's the thought that counts. What's your favorite holiday/time of year? Why is it your favorite?
