"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under Godindivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

It’s hard to turn on your television these days (or your computer or phone) without being inundated with further “proof” that we are a nation divided.

Like many, I am concerned about the condition of our country, and more so the spiritual condition of our Nation, and the spiritual condition of the Church. Spiritually, I am grieving as I see a steep decline in godly principles occurring day-by-day across our land.  Decisions made by others that will impact the future of many in a negative way, although it may have been intended for good.  Albeit, the Supreme Court is the final judge in all cases involving laws of Congress, and the highest law of all — the Constitution, God is the ultimate and final judge.

The laws of God were written for our protection that we may freely worship Him and not to prevent us from doing as we please in the flesh.  He and only He can see the beginning from the end and does what He pleases. “Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like meI make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, 'My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.' From the east I summon a bird of prey; from a far-off land, a man to fulfill my purpose. What I have said, that I will bring about; what I have planned, that I will do. Listen to me, you stubborn-hearted, you who are now far from my righteousness. I am bringing my righteousness near, it is not far away; and my salvation will not be delayed. I will grant salvation to Zion, my splendor to Israel.” Isaiah 46:9-13

Will God Heal Our Land?

We are waiting on God, but He is waiting on us.  As Christians, we are to "live by faith and not by sight", trusting in the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:7  We earnestly desire God to grant our prayer requests, but we also know God's plan is for us to spread the gospel and not to love or get caught up in the things of this world.  We're torn because we want our children and grandchildren to live in a country governed by the morals and standards our forefathers were wise to see that came from the Bible.

America has spiraled downward into a land of people who care less and less about living according to what's pleasing to God and more about what's pleasing to the flesh and sinful lifestyles according to the Holy Word of God. "People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God--having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

As a people, we must recognize the signs and markers telling us to return..."Is not Ephraim my dear son, the child in whom I delight? Though I often speak against him, I still remember him. Therefore my heart yearns for him; I have great compassion for him," declares the LORDSet up road signs; put up guideposts. Take note of the highway, the road that you take. Return, Virgin Israel, return to your townsHow long will you wander, " Jeremiah 31:20-22

God is continually releasing signs and markers in front of us trying to get our attention--signs that say,"Therefore tell the people: This is what the LORD Almighty says: 'Return to me,' declares the LORD Almighty, 'and I will return to you,' says the LORD Almighty. Do not be like your ancestors, to whom the earlier prophets proclaimed: This is what the LORD Almighty says: 'Turn from your evil ways and your evil practices.' But they would not listen or pay attention to me, declares the LORD." Zechariah 1:3-4

But we have to be willing to turn when the time comes to see the signs and markers. Signs that mark a narrower but very rewarding path.  "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." Matthew 7:14

"Listen to me, Judah and people of Jerusalem! Have faith in the LORD your God and you will be upheld; have faith in his prophets and you will be successful." 2 Chronicles 20:20
