As I'm sure you're aware, Kim Kardashian was held at gunpoint by people dressed as policeman earlier this week. She was robbed $14 million worth of stuff, and tied up in the bathroom by her attackers.

Not everyone likes Kim Kardashian, and I get it. The hate is usually centred around the fact that she is simply famous for being famous, and if there's any other reason behind her enormous popularity, it's the fact that she's slept with other famous faces (and sold sex tapes from said famous relationships), or that she's simply a 'promiscuous' person. But, surely, you have to feel bad for someone who has been held at gunpoint. No matter how much you love someone, despise them or are simply apathetic, such a traumatic experience would affect anyone, despite their wealth and popularity.

I, however, am not one of the people who hate Kim Kardashian. In fact, I love her. And before you hate on me for it, keep reading. I'll tell you why.

Yes, she's had a lot of plastic surgery and takes revealing photos. If it bothers you, yes, she had a child out of wedlock. But that's not everything there is to Kim K. She is, in my opinion, one of the smartest people out there (or at least, her PR team are). She had the tenacity to take her reputation for being the daughter of Bruce and Kris and turn it into a billion dollar empire. Any of you with successful parents know how hard it is to make your own name. But guess what? She did it. By herself.

My mum just thinks she's trashy, as all she sees about Kim K are her revealing outfits and random facts on news sites about her. What she doesn't know is that she is an entrepreneur, game designer, clothing and makeup influencer. She speaks out about her issues with childbirth. She uses her platform to entertain and create. How many of you Kim haters out there could say the same?

Kim Kardashian is what could be deemed a 'microcelebrity', as she rose to fame predominately through reality TV and social media. I, however, think she has earned her right to be called a full-fledged celebrity. She has turned her life from being famous by association to being downright taking-over-the-world famous.

Whether you love her or you hate her, you're at least talking about her, and she turns that into wealth and personal branding. That's why she's one of the smartest people out there.
