My mission in life is not merely to survive but to thrive and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor and some style - Maya Angelou

I used to be of the school of thought that "a happy life just happens" know.....we have dreams and goals, we work hard and BAM!!!! SUCCESS IS SURE. When things did not follow this process, I became wary of this thought. "How is it that I work so hard to achieve a goal and pray fervently towards it but still no success?" I asked myself.

And then I realized the answer - PREPAREDNESS.

You know how it is said that "Happiness is like a butterfly. The more you chase it, the more it would elude you but if you turn your attention to other things, it will come and sit gently on your shoulders"?, Well, Life is kind of like that.

Before I met my special man, I wasn't in a relationship. Sure there were guys coming around but we didn't just connect. There was always a hitch somehow.

We were friends and all but relationship-wise, it just wasn't happening. I had prayed and hoped the right one would come along but with the so frequent-but-never-clicking-friendships I had with guys, I was done with my search.

I told God, "You know what? I am done. When you are ready, you can send the right one over. I'm just gonna be here waiting". And that was it. I went about my life not concerning myself with any relationship issue and just when I least expected it; at that point when I had taken my mind off, at that awesome time did my Prince Charming come into my life.

At that appointed time when God knew I was ready, He made our paths cross and just set things in motion.

“Patience is power. Patience is not an absence of action; rather it is "timing". It waits on the right time to act, for the right principles and in the right way.” ― Fulton J. Sheen

Today, ours is a beautiful story with its own fair share of ups and downs but how we are able to overcome these challenges and wax stronger in love and friendship, I can confidently tell you, it is just solely the Hand of God at work in us........the grace and favor of God coupled with our readiness and preparedness to make the most of our relationship makes challenges, steps to climb as we grow together in our blissful love.

I guess it is safe to say, we had the right love at the right time.

And that is just it......So sweetie, life is indeed beautiful for those who are prepared. You value challenges that you encounter because you no longer see them as negative but a beautiful means to an awesome end.

For most part of my adult life, I have been super impatient for so many things I have needed and wanted so much so that I thought God was really just bidding His time and couldn’t care less about how urgently I needed my intentions granted.

While I had my life planned out in a certain way and was expecting it to pan out just exactly how I had pictured it, I didn’t know God was preparing me for better things. Sure, my intentions didn’t turn out the way I wanted. It turned out wayyyyyyyyyyyy better than I ever anticipated and the best part is, when they happened, I was ready for them.

It so happened that at the time I wanted those desires, I wasn't ready or prepared to receive them.

“It’s always about timing. If it’s too soon, no one understands. If it’s too late, everyone’s forgotten.” ― Anna Wintour

You know how the Bible tells us that God will not share His glory with any another (Is 48:11), well, that is my life's story because who I am and what I am today is all due to the grace, blessings, mercy and favor of God and I can tell you it is perfect.

We often hear these words “God’s time is the best”. Sometimes, we often say them even though we don’t believe it. We ask God for favors and blessings which is good but the slip-up on our part is wanting the favors granted straightaway so much so that we even put God on a ticking clock, tapping our feet impatiently like we are in a grocery store trying to make payment for our purchase and the cashier is wasting time or is apparently too slow.

Though we have said those words “God’s time is the best”, but we do not really want to wait for God’s time. We want it on our own time. We want it now and when it isn’t forth coming, we begin to lose faith and conclude God doesn’t love us.

Instead of waiting on Him, we would rather go get it elsewhere hence getting into the wrongs hands and digging a deep hole of trouble for ourselves. We make the wrong deals with the devil forgetting that while he gives you a shoe, he takes your leg.

We forget God’s words in Habbakuk 2:3 “Since this is a vision for an appointed time, it will not fail but will be fulfilled in due time. If it delays, wait for it, for it will come and will not be deferred“. It’s not that God doesn’t love us or really doesn’t want to give us what our hearts ache for. The truth is timing is everything.

Our heart desires are granted only when we are prepared to receive that which we ask for. - OmoakhuanaAnthonia

A beautiful life is all about timing. We may not understand this if we have a closed mind...... Just think about it......Life is in stages and is a process. There are just no short cuts. Life happens to us sometimes when we are ready and other times, it helps us to be ready.

You cannot request for a car when you do not know how to drive or a book when you do not know how to read. Life is all about preparation and timing.

I came across this amazing story from this site and would love to share it with you,

The ' L I T T L E ' Things

As you might remember, the head of a company survived 9/11 because his son started kindergarten.

Another fellow was alive because it was his turn to bring donuts.

One woman was late because her alarm clock didn't go off in time.

One was late because of being stuck on the NJ Turnpike because of an auto accident.

One of them missed his bus. pic213

One spilled food on her clothes and had to take time to change.

One's car wouldn't start.

One couldn't get a taxi.

The one that struck me was the man who put on a new pair of shoes that morning, took the various means to get to work but before he got there, he developed a blister on his foot. He stopped at a drugstore to buy a Band-Aid. That is why he is alive today..

Now when I am stuck in traffic, miss an elevator, turn back to answer a ringing telephone... All the little things that annoy me, I think to myself, this is exactly where

God wants me to be at this very moment..

So the next time your morning seems to be going wrong, the children are slow getting dressed, you can't seem to find the car keys, you hit every traffic light, don't get mad or frustrated; it May be just that God is at work watching over you.

May God continue to bless you

With all those annoying little things

And may you remember their possible purpose.

(that's the cool part)

Now, isn’t this true? Sometimes, we ask for things that may harm us in the near future but because of our nearsightedness, we are adamant and insist that God grant us those favors. God is Omnipotent and Omniscience. He sees the very end from the beginning and all He ever does is out of love for us.

He may not grant that which we ask Him because it may not be of any benefit to us, instead, He gives us something better. But because of the nearsightedness we have and our closed hearts, we refuse to see His blessings to us in other forms.

Sometimes, we ask for good and nice things – life partners, good jobs etc. and still we get no response from God. Not because these things we ask for are bad but maybe because our hearts are not yet ready for them.

Getting married is more than the wedding day, it is for life. We may want to jump on the bandwagon and get married immediately because everyone is getting married but you forget that just as people jump into marriages, so also they jump out. Why be hasty? Let it happen at God’s own time.

He truly knows best. Let Him give you that perfect man, perfect woman that complements you and gives you joy inside and out. Not all that glitters is gold. It’s not all about beauty or wealth. There is so much more to marriage, to life than these.

I can’t begin to quantify the joy I feel deep within me for this newfound love for blogging but I can very well say it is so much more than I could have ever felt if I had gotten any other regular 9 – 5 job.

Timing is everything.

Though we may not believe it in truth, God indeed knows best and His time is paramount. We best believe it. He is neither too late nor too early but always there at the nick of time. This we can see in the story of Lazarus in John 11. It is indeed a beautiful story.

Jesus was aware Lazarus was really sick but He remained where He was and only went to see Lazarus after he had been dead and buried for four days. He could have gone sooner when He received the news of Lazarus illness but He didn’t.

“The common man prays, 'I want a cookie right now!' And God responds, 'If you'd listen to what I say, tomorrow it will bring you 100 cookies.” ― Criss JamiKillosophy

Mary and Martha felt Lazarus could have been healed if Jesus had come sooner but they didn’t lose faith as Martha said “I know that he will rise in the resurrection, at the last day”. However, there was a greater purpose in Lazarus’ death – to glorify God’s name that all may believe. God surely has a reason and purpose for everything. Delay is not denial.

Timing is everything.

Those times when we cry bitterly and ask God “Why me?”, “Why is this happening to me?” Let us remember even at that moment of pain and hurting, God never left our side. He was with us, hurting with us, suffering with us. “Why didn’t He avert the situation?” We may ask. “Why didn’t He change anything?” But if He did, how would we learn the good morals and lessons of life He wants to show us? If He did, how would we appreciate His hand at work in our lives?

“Hell is truth seen too late.”  ― Thomas HobbesLeviathan

It’s just like driving on a smooth, bumpy-free road all your life. If you do not experience the bad roads with pot holes and bumps, how will you understand and appreciate the value and strength of your car or even appreciate the good road? How will you appreciate the job of the auto-mechanics?

When we experience the bitter side of life, we better appreciate God for who He is. Suffering isn’t fun; suffering is painful but again sufferings are scars from which beautiful stories are told.

The best stories are often those that begin with challenges and struggles and end in a resounding victory.

What makes the saints, saints? As an anonymous puts it,

They were cheerful when it was difficult to be cheerful

They were patient when it was difficult to be patient

They pushed on when they wanted to standstill

They kept silent when they wanted to talk

They were agreeable when they wanted to be disagreeable

That was all.

Timing is everything.

Jesus could have been arrested at any time before Gethsemane after all, He preached openly in the temples and synagogues and the Pharisees could have arrested Him but that wasn’t the appointed time. When the appointed time came, He said to Judas “whatever you want to do, do it quickly”. At the appointed time, Judas betrayed Jesus which led to His suffering, death and salvation for us all.

Timing is everything.

I came across this story a long time ago. I can't remember its original source now but I give awesome credit to author of this story.

A friend of mine, Jack, was returning home one fine evening from a business trip. He had quite a big sum of money with him. Suddenly, his car broke down and it was raining heavily. He tried to get the car started but alas! The car would not yield. He cursed at the weather. He was really furious and scared. He was on a lonely road and the nearest house was quite a distance.

He started walking hurriedly towards the house; half walking, half running. Arriving at the house, he was drenched beyond words could say. Unfortunately no one was home. All of a sudden, two men with locally made guns showed up in front of him equally soaked from the rain. With the intent of killing Jack, they aimed their guns at him.

He could not have been saved from death, except for the fact that the rain had caused the gun powder to dampen and the guns were useless. Jack, seeing his chance made a run for it and was lost in sight due to the foggy weather.

When he was out of danger, he said to himself: “How stupid I was to curse at the weather, instead of patiently accepting it as a gift from God. If there had been a clear sky and the air dry, I would be lying in a pool of my own blood now and no one would know where I am. The rain which I complained about has saved my life and my money”.

How perfect was the timing of the rain. Yes, inconvenient and problematic for Jack, but his life was saved. If the rain had come later or sooner and not at the point it did where it met Jack struggling with his car, he could have been dead now. So, let us not judge or be angry with God by feeble sense but instead, trust Him for His grace because behind every scowling providence, He hides a smiling face.

Timing is everything.

Patience is indeed a great virtue, and sometimes, a lifetime is required to learn it. Don’t try to understand everything. Sometimes, some things are not meant to be understood but to be accepted. I know that there are times when things go wrong and we struggle to find a reason to keep fighting a battle that is seemingly impossible to win.

“Your best work involves timing. If someone wrote the best hip hop song of all time in the Middle Ages, he had bad timing.” ― Scott Adams

We feel discouraged when things are not improving. We feel life isn’t worth the trouble anymore and we just want to give up. Please don’t. Keep holding on to life as it is the greatest gift one can receive. At the time you least expect, something incredible will happen and then you will know that patience and hope did guide you through the troubled times.

Be patient with life and lean on God all through. Let things happen in God’s time. Yes, a thousand years in our sight can be like a day in God’s eyes. Just because something isn’t happening for you right now doesn’t mean it would never happen. Delay is not denial. Take it slow.

Do not be in a rush. It’ll work itself out in time. All that is needed is patience. A wise one once said “Patience is that the heart does not feel anger towards that which is destined and that the mouth does not complain”. Never lose patience. It is the last key to open the door.

Timing is everything.

So my dear, have patience as everything is difficult before it is easy. Look at childbirth, after nine months, the joy of a child; look at graduation from school, after years of study and hard work, you graduate in flying colors. Look at beautiful houses, after months of building and labor; look at promotion at work and increase in salary, after years of input into the company. So is life. It’s all about timing.

Timing is everything.

God’s time is perfect. Let us wait on God and not be in a hurry. We may not understand. It may not be in our place to understand but it is in our place to trust and just believe and it will work out just fine.

Let us work with God’s time and not our time. His ways are not our ways neither are His thoughts our thoughts. Surrender all to God. He has perfect timing; like I said earlier, He is never too late nor too early. It just takes a little patience and a lot of faith but at the end, it’s always worth the wait.

As Kelly Rowland did say, "Coming into the music industry even when I was a kid, one thing I learned is timing is everything. You being  prepared is everything".

So, my dear, in the words of Patience Strong:

Find the Good in Everything.

There is something good in all our ills if only we can see; a message and a meaning lie in each catastrophe

There is something to be gained from every loss we have to bear

There is something to be garnered from the harvests of despair

There is something to be prized in each encounter that we make.

There is something we can give and there is something we can take.

There is something grand in everyone if we can find the key…. timingiseverything

There is something noble in every person born in history.

There is something great in every day though dull and drear it seems…

There is beauty for the seeking over the rainbow crag of dreams…..

When beaten and frustrated by the

World misunderstood…..

Keep smiling and believing…..

You will be led to something good.

So sweetie, you see now that living a beautiful life is all about understanding the perfect timing of/for everything and your preparedness to receive that which your heart desires. Life cannot be rushed. Just trust and lean on God Almighty who is the giver of this beautiful life. Trust in His plans for you and let Patience and Faith be your guiding companions.
