In Luke 4:18 Jesus proclaims, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.” (KJV)

I don’t know about you, but on any given day I can relate to any number of things on that list.  Life’s cares and troubles will often overwhelm us if we wander too far from God.  But here Jesus proclaims good news.  No matter what our affliction, whether it be physical, spiritual or emotional, He came to take the affliction away and replace it with His joy, comfort and peace.  There is nothing that can come against me that Jesus is not able to alleviate.  God does not want us live a life of defeat, but instead a life of victory.  That victory is obtained through Jesus.

First we must realize our need for Him and then we must reach out to Him for the good things He has for us.
