We recently refinished the floor in our bedroom.  To do this we had to completely empty the room.  With just the bare floors and walls it was amazing how much of an echo there was.  You could hear every little noise, no matter how quiet.  When all the things were back in the room it again seemed quiet.  All the ‘clutter’ in the room seemed to make sounds muffled.

When we try to listen to God we often find a similar problem.  If we have a lot of clutter in our lives, it sometimes becomes difficult to hear and understand God’s voice.  When in prayer especially, we need to clear our minds of all things but God.  We need to focus on Him and Him alone.  It is when we do this that we will be able to clearly hear His voice.

At the start of John 10:27 Jesus says, “My sheep hear my voice”. (KJV)  If we behave like His sheep and follow Him and try to hear His voice, we will be sure to hear it.  Remove the clutter and listen carefully.
