When I was younger, I usually had very little trouble asking my parents for help.  When I got to be a teenager some of my requests became bigger and more difficult to take to them.  I was sometimes nervous about how they would view my requests for help.

This is the opposite of to how we should feel about approaching God.  One of my favourite Bible verses is Hebrews 4:16.   So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” (NLT)

By this verse we not only encouraged to approach the throne of God, but to do it with confidence.  We need not apologize for coming to Him, we are told to come boldly.  We are assured that when we do this we will be on the accepting side of His mercy and grace.  I know there are many different kinds of help that we both want and need, but if we go to Him we are told that we will receive His mercy and grace at the time that we need it most.
