The other day I went for a walk on the trails and it was very swampy.  It didn’t take very long for the mosquitoes to find me.  I think one saw me, rang the dinner bell for the rest, and then they swarmed.  One minute there seemed to be none, the next I was running for my life.  I should have known.  A trail through the swamp, what else would I expect.

I often do the same thing in a spiritual sense.  All of a sudden I find myself under a spiritual attack and wonder what on earth is happening.  Then I stop and take stock of the situation and realize that I set myself up for the attack.  I had done something that I should have realized was not the best idea.

In Galatians 5:16, Paul tells us, “My counsel is this: Live freely, animated and motivated by God’s Spirit. Then you won’t feed the compulsions of selfishness.” (The Message)  If I allow God’s Spirit to be my guide in all my thoughts and actions I will not find myself tempted and will not have to worry about my actions not being in line with God’s desire for me.
