After a recent rain, I went for a bike ride on trails down by a river.  There was lots of neat mud on them.  Much of it stuck to my bike.  While riding on the road back to my house lots of it was flying up off the tires and coming back to hit me.  When I arrived home I had to brush chunks of mud off my shirt and shorts.  Then I had to get my wife to brush the lumps of mud off my back.  I could have left them there, but really, who wants to go through their day with mud all over their clothes.

As we go through life, sin shows up as those lumps of mud.  We can choose to get rid of it, or we can continue on with the sin still present.  Getting rid of the mud was easy, I just had to brush it off or get my someone to help brush it off.

Getting rid of sin is equally easy.  I can choose to leave it there, or have someone brush it off.  The only person able to brush it of is Jesus and all we have to do is come to him and ask.

1 John 1:9 tells us, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (KJV)
