November, 29, 2015, The Black Mamba, Kobe Bryant shock the world when he announced after 20 years he will be retiring from the NBA after this season. Bryant posted a heartfelt Poem titled "Dear Basketball" on The Player Tribune. The site crashed the due to so many heartbroken fans in disbelief that their basketball hero was retiring. Bryant displayed his love and aspiration for the sport and  stated "his body could not take it anymore" as a reason for him hanging up his jersey.

Bryant's career has been phenomenal to say the least, he won 5 NBA titles, 17-time NBA all-star, and the 3rd overall highest scorer in NBA history to name a few of his accolades. As the 13th pick in the first round of the NBA draft Kobe Bryant was selected by the Charlotte Hornets where he was trade to The Los Angeles Lakers for Vlade Divac. He would go on to spend his entire career playing for the Lakers. His record-breaking career lead him to other opportunities such as, Rap albums, Sprite endorsement, McDonald's endorsement, Nike contract, and many more. Fun fact Kobe Bryant is currently the highest paid player in the NBA currently.

There is nothing Bryant hasn't accomplished in the NBA but, are the Lakers and the NBA ready to let go of their superstar cash-cow?Kobe Bryant being injured between 2013 and 2015 caued Lakers attendance to declined significantly. Kobe brought championships, longevity, money, fans, controversy, and attitude to the Lakers brand. Bryant is undoubtedly the face of that organization ; can they afford to lose the face at this pivotal moment? The lakers currently have the worst record in the West division, 2nd overall at 9-30, but Arenas continue to fill because of Kobe Bryant. Bryant is currently winning the all-star votes by a landslide. Lakers will probably not  make the playoffs this year, so this is the last time we will witness the future Hall of Famer play the game we love to watch. Who will fill the void Kobe Bryant will leave behind? Will the Lakers succumb to becoming the second franchise in LA behind the clippers? Will the Lakers attend rate decrease? Will a new star in LA be born? There are so many questions the NBA And Lakers have to answers. Best of luck in future endeavors Kobe Bryant.
