My New Year's resolution is to stop lying to myself about making lifestyle changes...

Every year I take a step back and look at my life. It's scarier than you think. Some years I focus in harder on my fitness level and my body. We all have those parts of our bodies that we look at under a negative microscope, and wish that we could alter or remove altogether. Other years, I examine my relationships. I try to think about how I could be a better friend, son or coworker. But, let's be real...more often than not, I center my concentration on my career. Generally, I attempt to find new avenues of catering to my clients' needs. However, in all honesty, I am just like everyone else - I try and find more ways to make that money. This year, though, I realized...my New Year's resolution is to stop lying to myself about making lifestyle changes...

So then what can we do? Is any goal we make at the beginning of our next circle around the sun destined for failure? or is there a way to make this work? Thankfully, there's google! "How do I make a New Year's resolution work?" And, believe it or not, there's a science behind it all! There is a verified, scientific and psychological method to training our minds to achieve our goals! The first step is to BE REALISTIC. Goals like "start working out" or "go on a diet" seem small in the grand scheme of things, but they're vastly more difficult than you might think. Instead, make small modifications - "take the stairs, park further away," and "have fruit for breakfast." Your new habits HAVE to be attached to an old habit. The old habit becomes a "cue" for the new one! Finally, it takes three to seven practices of your new habit before it sticks!

SO, what should your new habit be?

Start with your hair! We all feel better about ourselves when our hair is on point! As shallow as it sounds, it's true! Taking care of your hair is much less complicated than we make it! Having a solid hair routine is a great start! From the salon chair to the bathroom mirror, by following my simple steps, you'll have stronger and longer hair! Start yourself off with regular haircuts! Drastic cuts aren't the answer, but a small trim every eight to twelve weeks will keep you from getting dry, split ends. Make it easy on yourself and set up a recurring appointment! Next, is making sure your hair is strong from the inside out! Your hair is made of protein - Keratin. To strengthen and multiply these bonds, use Olaplex! When you get your hair done, the treatment can be applied right at the shampoo bowl! Additionally, theres a take home treatment for weekly use!  For more at-home care, use a professional shampoo, without parabens and sulfates, every 2-4 days! Be sure to apply a leave-in detangler and COMB with a large tooth comb or wetbrush, starting from the ends and working your way up! Finally, a daily vitamin, Biotin, will aid your body in producing stronger, healthier hair. Take 10,000 mcg daily (be sure to consult your physician). Growth is typically seen after the second bottle. You'll begin seeing tiny hairs popping up everywhere!
