Gorgeous Art Noveau town of Alesund Hi Folks, I am so excited to share our Norway experiences with you. Norway is such a beautiful country. The landscape here is breathtaking and so splendid that I just wanted to stay there forever. I wanted to do New Zealand so bad because of the Fjords, but then I found out that Norway also have some gorgeous Fjords and not just Fjords, there is so much natural beauty to see in this small country. It is one of the most scenic Scandinavian countries, though, food is not much of a highlight here. Viking history is fun to learn about. We were there for four days and since it was summer, not a good time to find northern lights, so we didn’t go to much higher latitude. During this time you have full 24 hours of daylight, which in itself is a different experience altogether. We decided to spend two days in Alesund, a gorgeous art noveau town by the water. Next day, we drove to Geirenger and took a private boat tour to see and experience the fjords. We spent a whole day in Geirenger and drove to Dalsnibba mountain and lake Djupvatnet. Next day, we drove to Oslo and spent a day there and explored the city. It was definitely a short trip, so I saved a lot of places for next time as I want to come back and see the northern lights from Norway. Must see: Alesund: Walk in the old city, hike to the view point for the beautiful city views. Geirenger: Fjords, Seven sisters waterfall, Bachelor waterfall, Dalsnibba mountain, Djupvatnet glacial lake and there are also must go view points. Oslo: Viking ship Museum, Royal Palace, Frogner Park, Akershus Fort, Hollmenkolen ski mueseum Must try restaurant in Oslo: Festningen What to wear? North was cold, but during the day time you just need a fall/wind jacket to protect yourself from the wind. Oslo was celebrating summer, so it was pretty much like New York summer. I wore a comfortable pair sneakers through out the trip to make my feet happy. My husband chose the hotel Scandic hollmenkolen Park in Oslo for its location and the beautiful views. Enjoy the post and have a wonderful week! Xx At the view point in Alesund.
