In virtually every sporting event or contest there can only be one winner.  Sometimes, but rarely, do we see it happen that two will tie for the victory.  Usually there is some way to ‘break’ the tie and therefore declare a single victor; one victor, and the rest are losers.

In the spiritual world this is both true and false.  Yes, there is only one victor, Jesus the Christ.  He took on sin, Satan and his legion of demons.  In this struggle there was a single victor, Jesus.  He won a contest that I was unable to win.  No matter what I did in my own power I would never win.

The truth that we need to realize is that with His victory comes mine and yours.  He fought so that we might win.  1 John 5:4,5 says “because everyone who is a child of God has the power to win against the world.  It is our faith that has won the victory against the world. So who wins against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God.”  (ERV)  It is only because of Jesus that I have the power to win.
