So guys, today’s post is about my favourite clothing item that I own. You might think how much of a materialistic and sketchy girl I am, thinking that a piece of clothing can actually make a difference in my life. And in our world of all-embracing commercialism you probably have reasonable doubt that I’m just another designer brands kind of girl.

But no, I will have to prove you wrong, because my story is kind of different. This post is actually about a pair of boyfriend jeans. They were neither expensive, nor are they something super special or extraordinary. (HINT: You can actually buy them at zara for less than 50 bucks if you feel inspired after this text). But that’s not the point about it. Just a year ago I used to think that boyfriend jeans make even Kylie Jenner look like a sloppy car mechanic whose pants are about to slide off, but today I think they are pretty cool and don’t care what other people think about me wearing them.

It hasn’t always been like that, because that "I-don’t-give-a-fuck-what-you-think-about-me" - attitude is a pretty new addition to my wardrobe as well.

When I was younger and still in school I used to wear what everyone would wear. It’s pretty sad how all the girls at my age (including me) were day after day giving their best not to stand out in this crowd of H&M stuff,  Uggs and chucks - wearing teenagers. Luckily there comes the day when you graduate and you can’t just copy that one stylish girl in your class every day.

I personally have never dared to take a closer look at fashion trends or statement pieces because I found myself looking ridiculous trying to imitate some size 0 model in a catalogue. I always thought that “style” was something you are either born with or you terribly fail at. On top of that, I thought that looking good in any kind of clothes had something to do with sizing and your skin tone (which made me come to the conclusion that the only colours that fit my rather pale skin tone are black and white – poor fourteen year-old me haha)

A few years later, I have  now discovered that it was actually really stupid to think like that. I have found out that all you need in your closet is one single staple piece that makes any outfit look phenomenal. I am not talking about the dubious little black dress here, what I’m talking about is CONFIDENCE.

After some serious life changes my mindset and self-confidence have improved in such a way, that I find myself buying clothes that I wouldn’t have dreamed about wearing a year ago. I just don’t give a f*ck anymore. I buy whatever I like. Also, red has just recently become my new favourie colour when it comes to clothing.

One significant change was that I replaced my old favourite jeans (that were at least one size too small and gave me cramps when I had to sit in them for a longer period of time because they were so tight) with some new boyfriend jeans. And  now when I walk buy a shop window and see the reflection of myself proudly wearing my brand new boyfriend jeans, all I think is: "Hell yeah, what a damn good looking car mechanic".
