We have peas growing in our garden and they amaze me. They send out these little ‘fingers’ that are looking for something to which they can attach. As soon as they find it, they wrap around it and give the plant support. They cannot distinguish between things that are good or bad, they just attach themselves to the first thing they find.
How often do we do the same thing? We find ourselves in time of need and we reach out and grab onto the first thing we find. Instead we need to take a deep breath, try to ignore our desperation and take time to ensure we are reaching out to God.
In Psalms 18:3 King David says “I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.”(KJV) There are many types of help out there but what we need to do is to call upon the name of God. He is the only one on whom we can depend. If we reach out to Him, He will hear and answer.
