Layla bursts into tears as she finished her prayer. On the other side of the hallway was where Leon sat. He kept waiting for John to return. He wasn’t waiting there long but it felt like hours. It was very quiet until he heard Layla’s tears. He knows that John told him not to move but he wanted to know where the sound is coming from. He gets up and follows the noise. He finds a crying Layla on the ground. Leon never been around other kids, especially girls. He wanted to know why she’s crying.

“Why are you crying?” Leon gently asked. Layla looks up at him with her tears still falling down her face like a stream.  She was lost for words as she was unsure what to say. “I found out that girls can be mean…”

“Boys can be too…” said Leon as he sat next to her. “Are you mean?”

She shook her head. “I’m Layla,” she said shyly.

“I’m Leonardo, but you can call me Leon. What’s wrong with you eyes?”

“Nothing… I was born with it,” Layla replied.

“Really? I have never seen eyes like that before,” said Leon sounding very curious. Layla begins to smile.
