Being a bookworm is not just having a hobby.  It's not just being a nerd. It's not just always being comfortable away from people with the company of a book. Being a bookworm is actually helpful.

I started to love reading when I was in 6th grade. I'm still thankful that our English teacher required us to read a book and summarize it for our project. If it didn't happen, I wouldn't know reading could be so much fun! And as I continue to let books infiltrate my life, I have observed my advantages as a reader.

1. It helps you improve your writing skills.

Essays during exams become easy to write. It's no burden at all. It's like a bonus!

2. It widens your vocabulary and enhances your comprehension skills.

It helps me in my English class (especially now that my English class is Introduction to Literature) and in every instances that requires me to read and understand. Haha. You won't have a difficult time understanding the text.

3. It makes you more confident about yourself.

Is it just me or does reading helps you to feel better about yourself? :D

4. You know the TRUE story behind the movie adaptations.

Don't you just hate it when they did it very wrong in the movies, especially when it was too far from the book that it was like another story already?

5. You get to know other people's culture (or at least, their norms).

You'll eventually distinguish the terms they use and whatnot.

6. You experience things you haven't done yet/ things which are impossible to happen.

Like flying, having supernatural powers, travelling, falling in love and suchlike. You step into the shoes of the characters making you feel what they feel.

7. Having no plans during weekends or vacation doesn't bother you.

It just means YOU CAN READ TO YOUR HEART'S CONTENT and that will be very fun for you. It's actually pure happiness: curling with your book in bed, drinking coffee or tea or chocolate.

8. You instantly become friends with someone who loves too read as much as you do.

Once you found out that a person is a bookworm, the connection would be undeniable. YAY! A NEW FOUND FRIEND!

9. Having a silent yet entertaining companion with you.

Being alone won't bother you as long as you have your book!

10. You can be somewhere far away without even moving an inch.

Probably the cheapest vacation is to read a book. It is a form of escape.

These are just some of the benefits of being a bookworm. I'm sure there are more of them. Read on, bookworms!
