Philippine Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo confirmed the coronation ceremony of the said event will be held at the Mall of Asia Arena (Pasay City) on January 30, 2017.

"After all that’s been said and done, I happily welcome on behalf of the DOT the latest announcement of the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) through Pia Wurtzbach that finally the Philippines will indeed play host to the much awaited 2016 Miss Universe pageant," Teo said.

Before the venue was confirmed, Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach paid a courtesy call with Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte in regards of hosting the event in the Philippines. However, Duterte said he will not spend money to host the Miss Universe.

On the other hand, a big thanks to Non-Government Organizations(NGO) for they confirmed that they will shoulder the expenses for almost $11 million for the pageant.

The Philippines’ bet Maxine Medina said she is ready to bring back the crown for the 65th Miss Universe pageant.

Other title holders from the Philippines include Margie Moran – 1973 and Gloria Diaz – 1969.
