Pismo Beach, located along the Central Coast of California, is popular among surfers and tourists alike. Because of its popularity, parking is definitely at a premium. So, if you don’t want to have to walk a distance to the beach, I’d suggest arriving early. Also, be prepared to pay for parking either at a meter or at a self-service kiosk.

Pismo beach is great for everyone. Families will enjoy being able to sit on the beach and build sand castles or collect sea shells. Exercise buffs can run along the beach and enjoy the amazing views. The pier offers great fishing opportunities. And, of course, surfers, swimmers and water lovers have the Pacific Ocean to enjoy. Everyone can find an activity to do at Pismo Beach.

Now, if the beach really isn’t your thing, don’t worry. Pismo Beach is lined with a number of great restaurants. Foodies will love the variety of dining options; including everything from fish tacos to great burgers. Walk around and check out the menus for each of the restaurants. You are guaranteed to find something that you’ll love.

After you’ve indulged in one of the many great dining options, you can explore the shops that are also lined throughout Pismo Beach. You’ll find surf shops, great local shops and, of course, shops who thrive on the tourism. If you really want to surprise someone or are looking for a new addition to the family, many of the shops sell hermit crabs whose shells have been hand painted. You can also buy just the hand painted shells if you aren’t feeling that adventurous.

Pismo Beach truly offers something for everyone. It is definitely worth checking out on your road trip along the Central Coast. You’ll get to enjoy the beach, great food and even a little shopping.
