We've been dealing with a lot of pride lately.  Pride in society, on the news, in our communities, social media, everywhere!

God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble. - James 4:6

Take that in for a moment...God will actually RESIST a proud person.  Who wants to be rejected by God??  That's a powerful move.

Again, its okay to be appreciative, grateful and thankful to God for who He made you be (in His image), but to take (arrogant) pride in literally anything is detestable in God's eyes.  I know this to be true because the Word instructs this, but I especially know for more personal reasons.  Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you anything that you may be taking Pride in, and with deep sincerity ask Him to work on you in that area to restore His instruction for you in that area of your life.

Some general areas where pride is often found: education, children, salary, home, relationships, credentials and group affiliations, lifestyle, spouse, wealth, heritage, race, other possessions, actions, self-satisfying knowledge.

Some Verses that instruct in the area of pride:
Isaiah 2:12, Isaiah 23:9, James 4:10, Jeremiah 9:23, Proverbs 8:13, Proverbs 11:2, Proverbs 13:10, Proverbs 16:5, Proverbs 16:18, Proverbs 16:19, Proverbs 18:12, Proverbs 21:4, Proverbs 21:24, Proverbs 25:27, Proverbs 26:12, Proverbs 29:23, Psalm 10:4, Romans 12:16.

Notice that most of these verses stem from Proverbs.  The ultimate instruction for wisdom!  Not just any wisdom, but God's wisdom, His very instruction and knowledge; provided to King Solomon from God.
