When I decided to change my eating habits I probably spent at least two hours searching the web for healthy recipes to help give me a general idea on how I should be cooking. I came across many, but one stood out to me in particular. I found a grab and go protein ball recipe and adapted it to create my very own four ingredient protein power bites. These bites are one of my favorite snacks since they’re portable, super easy to make, are crazy delicious, and extremely versatile. I can assure you this recipe will be a hit among friends, family, and even children!


Prep time: 15 min | Chill time: 1 hour | Yield: 38 bites (19 servings)


Protein Power Bites


  • 2 ½ cups instant oats, uncooked
  • 1 ½ cups Vanilla Muscle Milk 100% Whey Protein Isolate and Concentrate (or your preferred brand)
  • 1 cup almond butter (can be substituted for any nut butter)
  • 1 cup honey (can be substituted with agave nectar)

Method of Preparation:

  1. Begin by mixing your dry ingredients until both are distributed equally
  2. Next, add in almond butter and honey.
  3. Using a hand mixer, beat on medium to high speed until the wet has fully incorporated into the dry. The mixture will be slightly sticky and should clump together
  4. To shape: Use a small scooper or form 1in balls with your hand
  5. Store in a container (line with parchment paper in between layers) and place in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour. Although they can be eaten freshly made, the protein power bites taste best cold


  • Instead of forming into balls, press the mixture into a parchment lined quarter sheet pan and chill for 1 hour. Then cut into desired shapes and store like above
  • Before adding wet ingredients, add in other mix ins – chocolate chips, chia seeds, flax seeds, raisins, etc. – and mix until evenly distributed. Then follow the instructions above
