Reading my Word this morning and a verse really stuck out to me.

NLT: Mark 4:24-25 Then He added, "Pay close attention to what you hear. The closer you listen, the more understanding you will be given- and you will receive even more. To those who listen to my teaching , more understanding will be given. But for those who are not listening, even what little understanding they have will be taken away from them.

As Christians its wonderful to read the Word of God and even listen to encouraging teachings that boost our faith and push us to go further with God. However as Jesus said in Mark 4, there can be a place were we do all those things, yet do it out of a religious task. We can read the Word to tick a box but not to really learn and understand what God is saying to us. Many Christians declare they know the Word and yet live and speak as if they don't.
Jesus teaches us here in Mark that when we read the Word we should really pay attention to what we are reading so by the Grace of God we can become like it. We can position our faith to receive every part of it. Rather then read as if we are reading a great story of what God once did, we can read it with passion and purpose and know we can become this in our generation.
When we don't read with a heart of really wanting to understand the Word, we risk losing even anything we once knew. The mission for every Christian is to keep the spark alive. It saddens me when I meet Christians out on the street through evangelism that share with me all the good they ONCE did and then answer "but you know, then family came along".

Family is such a blessing from God, but I want to challenge us to become more on fire for God when our family comes along. How will our children respond to God if our demeanour and actions show that Church and Gods standard is just "a little bit boring and even a bit inconvenient". We will produce a generation that see's God and Church the same way.
As Jesus said, let us pay close attention to what we hear. When we live with this open heart we will begin to live in victory over sin, sickness, darkness, depression and hopelessness.
There is Hope, love, joy, peace, health and so much more between the pages from Genesis to Revelation and I encourage all of us (including myself) to not let our hearts slip from understanding God and His ways.
I want to show the sphere of influence that God has given to me ,who God is and the love He shows to not just me but for them.
I understand that it can mean having to find time and even choose to put other important things aside to pursue understanding God and His Word. However let me encourage you , that when you do you will not be disappointed.

Bless you
