I have heard many people, myself included, that have complained, “I just do not have time to read the Bible; it is just too large a book and would take far too long to read.”  This is not a very good argument because it has been estimated that the entire Bible can be read in about 70 hours.  That means if you wanted to read through the Bible in one year, you would have to sacrifice a total of 12 minutes per day, about the amount of time it would take to drink a cup of coffee.

One of the ways we can get to know God better is to read His word.  In Psalm 119:11, King David tells us, “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” (KJV)  How can a person hide the Word of God in his heart unless he reads it first.  David hid that Word so he would not sin against God.  This is something we must strive to do also.  We need to hide God’s Word in our hearts.  How is this to be done?

We need to read His Word, think about what we have read and them make a conscious decision to remember that word and do what it says.
