Reasons I Boycott Christmas Until After Thanksgiving Like 0 Twitter Cameo Jonas Follow Nov. 7, 2016, 9:08 a.m. in Life and Styles Views: 779 Like us on facebook Halloween has come and passed and November is upon us. Of course, when most people think of November they think of Thanksgiving with turkeys and fall colors. However, in recent years, many people have started bypassing Thanksgiving and go straight into celebrating Christmas. As if Thanksgiving is only a bump in the road to the "more important" holiday during this time of the year. I personally believe that basically skipping over Thanksgiving is total nonsense. No holiday needs to be celebrated for 2 months out of the year. I don't know who put it in peoples heads that it was okay to do so. There is no need for Christmas commercials to be on the air until after Thanksgiving or for Christmas trees to be lighting up peoples windows the day after Halloween. Enough already! I am not sure when this Christmas craziness started as I don't remember it being this insane as a child but I am not a fan. In a way I believe it grew with peoples materialism over the years along with the craze of showing off your every movement on social media. Also, Thanksgiving is an important holiday in itself. Thanksgiving is about being thankful for everything life has offered you and just enjoying time with your family. During Thanksgiving, there is no pressure of finding your loved ones the perfect gift it is just about appreciating the time you have with them. I especially appreciate this time I have with my family as I now live hundreds of miles away from my parents and siblings. I am so excited that I will be getting to spend this holiday with them as I have not been able to visit with them since I moved away in January. Though you may not agree with my thoughts on when to celebrate Christmas, at least honor Thanksgiving for those families can't always be together whether you live far away from each other like myself or for the brave men and women who are serving in our military and are away from their families to protect your freedoms. So take time and give thanks this holiday season.
