Review: BB Cream Original | Garnier Like 0 Twitter Rabiya. Beauty blogger. Politically opinionated. The product itself has been on the market for quite some time but it's one which I always seem to go back to when I'm looking for light, easy, medium coverage. Like most great skincare trends, the BB cream became famous in Asia, although it started off in Germany. Short for Blemish Balm, these are a hybrid product which combine the benefits of skincare and make-up in one. Initially developed by German dermatologist, Dr. Christine Schrammek, in the 1950's to soothe skin and provide coverage, B.B. Creams were made famous in South Korea by an actress famed for her beautiful skin. They have since become a cult product thanks to their sheer, flawless finish and their “all-in-one” qualities. The Miracle Skin Perfector is Garnier's answer to the BB cream. It can be used on its own, as a primer, even over another face base if you're looking for sheer, glowy coverage in certain areas. It has a light texture which blends very well into the skin and can be applied using your usual liquid foundation application method. Personally, I like to apply this using the Sigma Beauty duo-fibre buffing brush but you could use a Beauty Blender or a flat foundation brush. The formula contains mineral pigments which give the ‘perfect’ skin look. It works well as medium coverage concealer to cover any blemishes and creates an evened out, softer, more smooth, look. It claims to provide 24 hour hydration but as I never wear any make-up for 24 hours, I didn't test that particular claim. It does offer SPF15 although I'd still recommend a separate, purposeful SPF in addition to this. I use the shade Medium and the only other shade available in this product is Light. Unfortunately, Garnier have some work to do in extending their shade range for darker skin tones which is a shame because this is a great product. They have however widened out the range of skin types they provide for and there is now a BB cream for sensitive skin, one for Anti-Ageing, the BB cream + Blur, and one for combination to oily skin. You can buy the Original Miracle Skin Perfector in Medium here, here and here. Also available in major supermarkets. 50ml for £9.99 although the drugstores usually have a sale on.
