Rise and Walk

There is an account in Acts 3 where Peter and John are going to the temple in the afternoon.  As they pass the gate called Beautiful they see a man who had been lame his entire life.  The man asks them for alms, but they have an answer that he never expected.  In verse 6, Peter says, “Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.” (KJV)

The man was looking for money.  Peter knew the authority that had been given him by Jesus so he invokes the name of Jesus and tells the man to rise up and walk, which is exactly what the man does.

Nothing has happened since then to suggest to us that this is not possible today.  Peter used the name of Jesus to see a lame man healed and we can do the same.  We can and should do the same.  When we pray for someone to be healed, we should see results every time, not because of any power within us but because of the power of Jesus.
