Matthew 23:25-26

25.  Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.

26. Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.

Imagine the most beautiful house you've ever seen.  You drive by every day longing to live there.  Putting in more hours at work, hoping to get promoted so one day you can live in that house.  Focused on your goal, you spend more time at work, away from your family.  Consumed by wanting more.  Never satisfied.  Wanting that life you only see from the outside.

Years pass.  You have exceeded your goal.  A house bigger and better than the one you wanted.  Full of pride, you drive by to see the place that sparked this journey.  The once magnificent structure, now in shambles.  The landscape grown and unkempt.  The structure seems smaller and non impressive.  Years of neglect had taken it's toll.  The structure now abandoned and it ruin, hurts your soul!

Now, imagine yourself as that house.  Seeing others from only the outside.  Striving for the perfect physical shape.  Trading family time for more money.  Your kids will have the best clothes and shoes.  Your wife, designer hand bags.  Wanting others to look at your life and family as examples of what they could have if they would only try.  But you find, there is no peace and joy in your life.  Retirement time comes and you're home alone.  Your kids have gone their own way and never visit because they were only taught the value of money and status.  There is no bond or relationship pulling them back.  With your wife, it's the same.  Years of going your own way have caused a strain.

The years of neglect and seeking the wrong thing have turned your magnificent structure into shambles.  The structure abandoned and in ruins, hurts your soul!

The deep longing of wanting to belong.  The agony of feeling unwanted and undeserving.  Wanting a pat on the back for every accomplishment.  Looking at others with prideful judgment.  Never satisfied.  The void inside is bigger than ever!  Exhausted from keeping up the appearance of having it all together.  There is no pill the doctor can prescribe to take away that anxiety inside.  You can seek out everything this world has to offer; but never find enough.

God searches our hearts.  Our heart guides what we seek.  We seek what we are focused on.

Matthew 6:33

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.

Seeking God first and seeking to be in His will.  Striving in your heart to be His obedient child will bring peace, joy and contentment to your life.  Striving to grow in relationship with Him will cause you to have better relationships in your life.  Focus on love, mercy and compassion instead of image and material things and God himself will bless your efforts.

Where are you now?  Are you lost and wounded?  Are you never satisfied?  Are you prideful?  Are you struggling with addiction or depression?  Have others abused and abandoned you?  Wherever you are, in the finest house ever built or living in your car.  God can clean you up on the inside and give you a life better than anything you could ever imagine.

Like the father waiting for his children to visit, God sits waiting for us to call out to Him.  It is never too late.  It is as simple as talking to your best friend.  God knows the very number of hairs on your head.  He knows where you are, where you've been and where you are going.  He is waiting with open arms to give you all you are longing for.

You don't need anything except a voice and a willing heart.  You don't have to go find a preacher or step inside a church.  Cry out to God right now where you are and He will start repairing all the hurt and pain inside your heart.  If you are unsure of how to call out to God, email me and I will gladly help you and talk you through the steps to salvation.
