What a great morning I have had in the Word of God. I felt led to read through Romans and just really spend time soaking in God’s goodness and gift of Grace. Life can sometimes get hectic and I know for myself I have been in a season where I feel like I’m being pulled in 50 different directions all at the same time.

I know I’m not alone in this feeling as we all have seasons in life were we are unusually busy and spread thin. In these times resting in God is crucial. It could be very easy and even tempting to skip out on precious time with The Lord to try to keep up with the demand. However as I have learnt in the past, this is never a good plan.

It is through Gods amazing Grace that these busy seasons are manageable. It is through God’s Grace that we can supernaturally perform all the different tasks at hand with ease and no stress. I need the Grace of God. This is how I found myself resting and meditating in the book of Romans this morning. Receiving the Grace to perform all I need to do today and in fact every day.

It was so encouraging reading and receiving that Christ died to set me free from sin. He has empowered me to live as a better person and in turn have a better life. I was blessed by many scriptures but this one is really encouraging.

Romans 6:6-11 (NLT)

We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin. And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with Him. We are sure of this because Christ was raised from the dead, and He will never die again. Death no longer has any power over Him. When He died, He died once to break the power of sin. But now He lives, He lives for the glory of God. So you also should consider yourself to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus.

When I reflect and remember the Carol that once was before Jesus, I almost can’t believe it. The Carol that once had many different addictions, mental illness, heart aches and struggles. When I began walking with the Lord, He supernaturally delivered me from the grip of sin and I am now free.

This certainly doesn’t mean I walk perfectly, but all those addictions and problems of the past, are exactly that. A distant memory that I can barely imagine living through. Yet it’s true, I was once that person. I thought of no other than myself, and lived for me alone. The Lord switched my Stoney heart for one of flesh. Only God could cause someone so hate filled to have such a love for others.

God is not a respecter of persons. He will not set me free and not you. As we read in that scripture, Jesus set us free from the power of Sin. Verses 11 teaches us to consider ourselves dead to sin, and alive to God.
Let me ask you. Do you see yourself how God does? Don’t say to yourself that you struggle with this sin or that. Consider yourself dead to that sin. God’s Grace doesn’t enable us to stay in sin, but to be delivered from its grips. I encourage you today to get excited about what Jesus accomplished for us on the cross. We longer have to be weighed down with condemnation and guilt when we do miss the mark, but we can rejoice and speak to that stronghold and declare to it that it has lost its power over you.

This is exactly how I felt this morning with the Lord. So excited about how far he’s brought me, but just how much further He will take me. I loved being refreshed in these truths. It doesn’t matter if I don’t walk perfectly today, but it does matter if I receive my weaknesses and failures as who I am. I need to consider myself alive to God and dead to all my mistakes. My mistakes will not define me, only Christ’s finished work on the cross will. I am righteous because He made me righteous. It wasn’t my works or abilities that has made God love me, accept me, and deliver me. It’s my resting and trusting in Christ alone.

If you have a stronghold in your life right now, I encourage you to give it to God. He set us free from sins grip upon us. That sin does not have rule over you, God has destroyed that yoke. Believe this and be free.

I pray you will receive wisdom and revelation to go deeper and further with God than ever before.

Be Blessed
