Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them.” (‭John‬ ‭14‬:‭21‬ NLT)
Jesus said that his followers show their love for him by obeying him. Love is more than lovely words; it is commitment and conduct. If you love Christ, then prove it by obeying what he says in his Word.
How is God will, revealed to us? It's through the Holy Spirit he reveals his will? If you don't understand that. It's that voice that speaks to you and says I should be doing this. You know when you are doing something wrong, and you get that feeling, this is not cool. You get that gut feeling that says this just does not feel right. You know what I am talking about. (Tyndal Study Bible)
Well, this is what John is trying to say, when you accept God, you should obey His principles and commandments. He then promises if you love Him, God, He will love you in turn.
Your behaviour and obedience is a sign of your love. Just like our behaviour and discipline to worldly events and chores, is a sign of the person we are. If we do things diligently, we will be far more respected by our peers.
The next promise is, he will reward your love.
What amazes me, is when you love people and things unconditionally, wanting for nothing in return, you will be shocked with the reward. It's not the material reward I am talking about but that spiritual well-being that follows you. We all strive for recognition. If you practice this, recognition will come from the most high God.
“Lord I pray that I follow your commands. Let me be an example to the world. I praise Your wisdom from the Bible. In Jesus name. Amen"
