There's a lot of information out there about what helps you lose weight, to feel energized, to help gain muscle. What really works? I don't want to be skinny, but I want to be toned, fit, healthy! I may not be right in what I am personally doing, but I thought I'd let you know anyway.

Every morning, the first thing I do, is down a pint of water. It is meant to boost metabolism and it makes me feel less hungry and bit more awake and ready for my day!

After most meals I have a green tea with mint and lemon. Apparently you should have 4-5 cups of green tea a day as it helps boost antioxidants and helps boost metabolism which aids fat burning.

Black coffee before a workout can help you burn more calories, so I have heard, but this probably has more to do with a caffeine buzz which makes you work that little bit harder during the workout, hence burning more calories.

Miso soup as a starter can help you feel fuller therefore consuming less. I usually have it for tea with some vegetables. The soup is made with fish flakes that are fat free and help you feel full.

Cardio at the gym isn't going to help you achieve your goal weight. Incorporating weights into your routine really helps. The more muscle you have, the higher your metabolism and the more likely you are to burn more fat whilst exercising or not.

At one point, when I was really focusing on my body and going to the gym 4-5 times a week, I managed to maintain my weight, but push my body fat down to 11% I was extremely proud of myself. The biggest thing for me was watching what I ate, as the saying goes 'abs are made in the kitchen'. So, instead of dieting and watching my micros and macros  (never have any idea what this is anyway), I cut out snacking and made sure my portions were smaller. Also tried to drink more fruit smoothies, as research suggests you burn more calories digesting a smoothie with all its ingredients than if you ate that fruit whole.

Never skip meals! This makes your metabolism drop, so when you do next eat, instead of being burnt up and used for energy it gets stored. Your body panics about when your next going to get food so it stores it. So smaller portions rather than skipping meals is the best way forward.

The featured image 'do you squats....' is suggesting use weights, eat healthy, take care of yourself and don't let anyone bring you down! Life is about feeling like a true boss, feeling confident and healthy. Health is priceless you cannot buy it, thus its extremely important to be healthy and feel great doing it, so chuck on some red lipstick and perfect those squats! You'll look back and think, why didn't I do this sooner?
