Did you know that gold should be kept out of the humidity? Or that sterling silver should be stored in dark places? Most of us don’t store our jewellery quite properly and have the tendency to place them just about anywhere so long as we find it convenient.

However, proper storage of your jewellery— especially when they’re diamond— is extremely important if you want to maintain their brilliance and shine. Not to worry though, with these storage tips and tricks, you’ll definitely keep your diamond jewellery shining!

Keep them separate

You should always store each piece of jewellery separately from each other, in order to keep them from scratching and causing other damages. Lined boxes with individual compartments or soft pouches work well in keeping your jewellery organized and safe. Also, you won’t have any difficulty finding one to match your outfit of the day!

Store them in a cool, dry place

It is wise to keep your jewellery out of the light and open air when you’re not wearing them. This protects them from direct light and humidity, which will help prevent wear and tarnishing. Jewellery organizers or boxes in a closet and/or drawers work wonderfully for storage.

Opt for a jewellery dish

If you have a few pieces of fine jewellery you like to wear on a daily basis— like your favourite pair of earrings, custom engagement rings, or a wedding band— a convenient dish will come in handy. It provides a safe place to put your jewellery when you need to remove them; such as when handling household cleaning materials or when taking a shower.

Get several pieces of these jewellery dishes and place one near your kitchen sink, your bedside table, and even in your bathroom. That way, you won’t have to worry about placing them in random places while you complete a chore.

For Travelling

The last thing you want when travelling is to open a bag full of tangled bracelets, rings, and necklaces. This can damage your jewellery over time and the risk of losing them is very high. To keep things organized, be sure to store each of them in a small cloth pouch (one for each piece) and then travel with all of those pouches tucked together in one small bag.

If that sounds too much for you, you can always buy a pre-made travel bag meant for your beloved jewellery with all the necessary storage features you’ll need. Purchase one that could hold all your favourite pieces in one go.
