Everyone faces challenges and hardships at different points in their lives, but the important thing is to continue to trust God in the midst of those storms. Life can take a lot out of us, especially in these days of economic uncertainty, social unrest, national uncertainty. Many are disillusioned and confused. Then add to that: personal storms like caring for aging parents, divorce, death of a spouse or parent, rebellious children and other difficult circumstances. Circumstances can overwhelm us and begin to take a toll on our body as well.

Fighting this daily battle called life is exhausting, especially when we often forget to keep our eyes on Jesus, to rely upon Him moment-by-moment. In difficult times we can cry out to the Lord. That's why Jesus promised never to leave us or forsake us. Why He sent the Holy Spirit and why we have His Word.

Take Comfort in God's Word

He has given us his Word to encourage and inspire us during those when the road gets a little rocky. When I have faced what seemed like impossible situations it has been the Lord who strengthened me.  He helped me overcome whatever difficulty or challenge I was experiencing at the time, and renewed my sense of hope and even gave me his joy in the midst of it all. With that in mind, here are some of my favorite Bible verses about having strength through tough times.

Matt 11:28 - "Come to me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

Isaiah 40:29 - 31 " He gives strength to the weary, And to him who lacks might He increases power. Though youths grow weary and tired, And vigorous young men stumble badly, Yet those who wait for the LORD Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary."

Psalm 46:1 “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

Philippians 4:13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

I Peter 5:10 “And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.”

We all will experience suffering and hardship during life, but the God of all grace will restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish us by his power if we submit to him.

May you be abundantly blessed!
